Getting started
Creating a care team
Start a care team with the person’s name and your permission to help. You can invite people and add the rest of the information together after the team is created.
Who this article is for
Personal accounts and professionals who are starting a new client workspace
Where to find it
- Choose Create a care team from your home page when you are ready.
- After creation, Team → Care team setup keeps the optional setup steps available.
Check whether a team already exists
If someone has invited you, use that invitation to join their team. You do not need to create a new care team just to respond to their work.
Create a team for yourself, or for someone who has asked you or authorised you to help. You become its initial Team leader and can hand over that responsibility later.
Create the team in two screens
- 1
The person
Choose Myself or Someone else and enter the name the team should use. A first name is enough. For someone else, also choose your relationship to them.
- 2
Check & create
Check the details and read the explanation of your Team leader role. Confirm that you have permission and agree to keep the care-team information confidential, then create the team.
You can pause here
Use Save and exit if you need to come back. Check the saved-state message before leaving. A saved draft is private to you and does not create a care team or give anyone access.
The person does not need an email or login
Choosing Myself connects your own account to the person’s profile. Choosing Someone else creates a managed profile that you can maintain as Team leader.
The person can be at the centre of the team without signing in. If they want their own account later, use their account-access options under Team → People & access → Invitations. Use their own email address, not yours.
What happens when you create the team
You start as Team leader. Creation does not automatically send invitations to other people. A professional who creates a client’s team keeps their professional account view.
If you arrived through a professional’s invitation to get started, review the separate choice about giving that professional access. Creating the team is not blanket permission for them to join.
Add what you know and ask others to help
- Open Team → Care team setup to invite someone, add context about the person, choose a first priority, add support guidance or upload a useful document.
- You can add information yourself or ask an active team member to provide it through a task. Choose the person best placed to help.
- A request stays waiting until the person responds, and a submitted response may still need your review.
- Use Not needed now for an optional setup area you do not need. You can return to it later.
You do not need to finish everything today
One useful task, document or piece of guidance is enough to begin. Plan details and a full support history are not required to create the team.
